Everyone knew him as a strong man.
He was dependable; the one people called when things went wrong. At work, he delivered results. At home, he carried the weight of bills, school fees, repairs, and expectations. He rarely complained because he believed that was what men were supposed to do.
But strength, when never expressed, slowly becomes exhaustion.
He began to lose patience at home. Small issues irritated him. Prayer became rushed, then occasional, then silent. Church was still attended, but his heart was far away. He loved God, yet he was running on empty.
One evening, after a particularly long day, he sat alone in his car long after turning off the engine. For the first time in a long while, he whispered a simple prayer:
“Lord, I’m tired.”
No long grammar. No impressive words. Just honesty.
That prayer changed something.
He realized God never asked him to carry everything alone. God asked him to trust, surrender, and rest in Him.
The Bible says:
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
Lessons Every Christian Man Must Learn
1. Strength is not silence
God is not impressed by men who suffer quietly. He is drawn to men who are honest with Him.
2. Carrying everything alone is not faith
Faith is knowing when to work and when to lean on God.
3. Burnout is a warning, not a badge
Being constantly tired is not proof of masculinity; it may be proof of misplaced priorities.
4. Prayer is not weakness—it is wisdom
A praying man does not lose strength; he receives renewed strength.
A Word to Men
God never designed men to be emotional islands. He designed us to be connected to Him and to one another. When a man learns to rest in God, he becomes stronger at work, gentler at home, and steadier in faith.
You don’t have to collapse before you cry out.
You don’t have to break before you bend.
Sometimes, the most powerful prayer a man can pray is simply:
“Lord, help me.”
As you sincerely ask for help today, may you receive help in the areas where you need it most, in Jesus’ name.
